wtf is this thing?!

With the money from their parents, Frances and Guy were able to afford a decent size house where they could live comfortably after they graduated. However, neither the Worthingtons or the Wrightleys knew the reason behind them buying such a large house together. They were looking into starting a family.

They lived in Sim City, where Guy had grown up, for quite a while, but even party-boy Frances grew tired of all the hustle and bustle.

And the constant phone calls from his dear old mom and dad, who kept bugging him about whether or not he had found a perfect woman to spawn a perfect son who would have the pre-destined name of "Frances J. Worthington IV" were driving him insane!

It was Guy's dream to live a simple life and to have a few wonderful kids to call his own. Upon hearing that Tank, who he hadn't talked to since his college years, had moved back to Strangetown, he thought it was the perfect place to settle down. On the other hand, all Frances wanted to do was get away from his parents and shed the Worthington name, so he followed him wherever he went.

With Guy being so determined about getting to the top of the education career and unemployed Frances either dancing constantly or eating grilled cheese, it seemed like their relationship was doomed to fail. However, it was these differences that made them stronger.

They exchanged vows in the privacy of their brand new home, and Guy immediately called the adoption service afterwards. He was so excited that he was finally able to adopt two lovely little boys, Alvin and Sterling, that he had been visiting in the orphanage for a few weeks now.

Alvin was adorable with his dark skin, blue eyes, and wide smile. Sterling was a handsome little readhead, who Frances insisted on dressing in pink clothes, probably because he missed the pink pants that he wore as a young adult that he obviously could no longer fit in.

Despite the fact that they were both in a relationship that neither of their families would approve of, and the fact that Alvin and Sterling weren't their biological children, the Wrightleys did indeed have a near-perfect family with a ton of love to spread around.

And they had a great Nanny/Housekeeper as well. Being good friends with both of them at college, Van was able to get her daughter Julia a job there. She really loved working with the kids, even if she couldn't tolerate some of their antics.  The bus would drop her off at their house every weekday so she could prepare Alvin (and Frances) a nice grilled cheese sandwich that would be waiting on the table for him when he got home.

Little did they know that an unexpected visitor would soon literally fall into their lives.

Earlier that day, Bunker had stayed home from school so he could go to General Buzz's house to prepare him for his newly acquired job as a paintball attendant. Having his hair buzzed off for such a low ranking job was a little extreme, but it was sure to impress the higher ups.

He was extremely nervous about meeting new people, so he decided that it was a good idea to run through the obstacle course one more time to de-stress himself an hour before going there. Still stressed out, he decided to go through it again.

...Three times later, his grandfather noticed that Bunker still had not gone yet and blew his whistle really loud, making him fall to the ground.

"Terrano, what do you think you're doing?"
"Sorry grandpa, I was going to go through the obstacle course a few more times before work, but I guess I got caught up in it."
"You do realize you missed the car pool, right?"
"No sir."

"Well then, what are you going to do about it?"
"Uh, drop and give you fifty?"
"Very funny, I highly suggest that you run and catch up."
"What? But it's probably-"
"I've told you about whining in my presence, Bunker. Now get to it!"

And so he did, despite knowing that trying to keep up with the vehicle was impossible. It was such a cowardly thing to do, he knew it. Sometimes he felt that the General was always being so hard on him because he was waiting for him to snap and actually stand up for himself.

At the same time though, the old man was his grandfather, who he would do anything to please. He also didn't want to disappoint him because he was repeatedly reminding him that his sons did so much. The General should have retired a few years ago, but he still had not found anybody worthy of taking his place...
Which made him so desperate that he had to turn to his grandson, his half ALIEN grandson, who was as active and determined as Tank had been prior to meeting Stella.

While Julia was setting the grilled cheese sandwiches on the table, a huge clang was heard outside. She ran to the porch to see what was going on.

"CINDER AND MR. JINGLES, YOU BETTER NOT HAVE FOLLOWED ME HERE AGAIN!" Julia screamed, thinking that it was her cats who had come to eat out of the garbage can.
Instead, there was a bright green Sim lying on the sidewalk, who had apparently knocked the can over when he fell.

It was Bunker.

Seeing him there on the ground just made Julia even more furious. "What do you think you're doing?!" There was no reply. "FRANKIE!" She yelled, calling Frances, who turned the volume louder on the stereo so he couldn't hear her loud and obnoxious voice.

Before she could make matters worse, Guy's car rolled into the driveway.
"FRANKIE, SOMEBODY JUST KNOCKED OVER THE GARBAGE CAN!"
Guy saw the boy on the ground and immediately got out of the car, but was distracted by Julia's complaining. "Nobody calls the wife that besides me!" He lectured.

Slowly, he crept over to the teenager, who was clearly in bad shape.
"When did this happen, Jules?"
"Just a few minutes ago."

He bent over and turned the kid to his side. The signs of overheating on his face glistened a bright salmon color in the desert sun. "He's fine, he just needs to rest for a little while."

Frances had finished getting his groove on and finally went outside to see what all the fuss is about.
"Oh dear- dear, dear, dear..."

"Dear, could you help me bring him inside?"

About 2 hours later, Bunker woke up in an unfamiliar bed with his face still burning. He stretched and yawned... And then realized he was in nothing but his underwear.

"That was quite a nasty fall you had before." He heard a man's voice say behind him. Guy had been sitting in the chair by the sewing machine the whole time he had been asleep.

Of course, Bunker's first reaction was to scream.

Frances had just finished taking a bubble bath and ran out of the bathroom when he heard the noise.
"Shhh, it's okay." Guy said calmly, "We're friends of the family."
"H-how come I've never seen you before then?"

"We just moved here last week, little Grunt." Guy laughed, "I haven't seen your father since the wedding, you definitely are his son though! Chip off the old block."
"Yeah, I can see Tank has been quite busy with his wife and the pollinating, huh Guy?" Frances chimed in, "How many of you are there? Probably like six, right?"

The red in Bunker's cheeks burned even more.
"No... Just two."
"Wow, that's quite a shock. Stella was always so interested in producing offspring."

Julia came up the stairs to put Sterling in his crib. She had overheard the discussion going on and couldn't help herself from paying attention, especially since she heard Frances mention Stella, her mother's best friend's name mentioned. She looked the boy up and down.

He definitely didn't look like the little hyperactive kid that she hung out with when she was younger.
"Bunker Terrano?" She said behind them, "I wouldn't have recognized you if Frances and Guy hadn't started talking about your parents."
Bunker turned to face her, but still couldn't look her in the eyes.
"Oh uh, hi Julia."

Her, Maxis, and Bunker were always together when they were children.  She felt like the third wheel most of the time because all they would do is talk about aliens and space and boyish things that she just wasn't interested in.  But she was lonely, and she always would tag along no matter what.

In Strangetown, being from a family that didn't have aliens in it was a minority. Looking back, it was pretty weird that she was the only girl in their trio, not to mention the only one that wasn't green.  Sometimes she wished that she was somwhere else.  Because of this, the three of them went their separate ways.  Though she did suspect that Bunker and Maxis still hung out together.

"You guys know eachother? How come you didn't tell us, Jules?"
"I haven't seen him in years.  Since before his transition."

She couldn't stop staring at the kid, which made Bunker even more nervous.  Slowly, he inched toward the bathroom to find his clothes, but Julia stopped him dead in his tracks.
"Marina said you had long hair now, what happened?"
No answer.  Instead, Bunker looked through the crack of the bathroom door, saw his clothes and then bolted inside.

"Fine, be that way!" Julia snapped, and then stormed into the nursery.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Stella Terrano waited by the phone.  Night had already come, and her son had not come back from his first day at work yet.  She knew it was a bad idea to let him take the job that his grandfather had offered him.

She was dwelling on the thought until a familiar hand caressed her shoulder.

"I'm sure he's fine."
"Could you-"
"Okay, I'll call him just in case."
That was how most of the conversations Stella and Tank had went.  Why was there any reason to talk if you knew what the other was thinking?

He dialed up the number to the Grunt house, which was something that he hadn't done in about fifteen years.  She never did trust General Buzz, even though he didn't really do anything to harm her.

There was just something not quite right with how he had treated her husband when he brought her home to meet him for the first time.  Sure, it looked like a harmless game of catch, but...

"WHAT?!" Tank barked,  "That was years ago, dad, don't bring that up now!   What matters is if my son is okay."

He also told her that there was a little bit of a quarrel between him and Buzz while she was away on her first day of work that really frightened her.  He just shrugged it off, saying that it was nothing, but she suspected that it had something to do with her.
In any case, the next day they packed up and left.  The relationship between Tank and his father was never the same again.

"Oh...  That's strange.  Well um, thanks anyway I guess."
Grumbling, he slammed the phone onto the receiver.
"He doesn't know where he is." Tank shrugged, "Funny, he always kept a tight rope on me and my brother's whereabouts all the time."

Huge tears started streaming down Stella's face.  It took a lot to make the woman cry.
"We'll find him, don't you worry."

He scooped her up into a warm and loving embrace.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

A few hours later, an unfamiliar car pulled up into the Terrano's driveway, but Tank was too busy staring up into the sky to even notice.

He rarely ever looked into the telescope, and he never really wondered what his wife's life would have been like if she did go back to her own planet to be a Pollination Technician like she originally had planned.  He never actually was sure if there was a place that she could go back to, anyway.

He was more like the type of guy that had to actually see and experience something before he believed in it.  A rarity in a place like Strangetown.

Guy came out of the car, with Bunker following him.  He was about to greet his old friend when all of the sudden, a white light surrounded the area.

Bunker ran to his mother and hugged her, like he used to do all the time when he was little.  She was pretty shocked that all of his long, beautiful hair was gone.  Before being able to say anything about the reunion with her son, she heard the familiar whirring of space ships.

And then her husband's cries echoed throughout the neighborhood.
"STELLLLLLAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

It was something she had been dreading for the longest time.

Uh-oh!! Tank's been taken! I wonder exactly *why* Stella had been dreading it? Hmmm.... But I'm sure we'll find out!!

Bunker is adorable.

And Frances... LOL! He's such a character, isn't he? All flighty and freaking-out-ish, lol! Gotta love it!

Oh, you'll find out soon enough!

Bunker makes the cutest sad and embarrassed expressions. They just HAD to be used.

Both Frances and Guy are such characters. Frances is always so uptight and can't really shed his spoiled rich kid attitude, meanwhile Guy is so nice and naive that he lets a teenage boy sleep in his bed and thinks nothing of it! I can't wait to write more for those two.

wow! Very intriguing ... and interesting!
is not really common to see a version of Tank who doesn't really get along with his dad too.... (that usually just Ripp's role lol)
and I'm very curious about that last line ... why's she dreading!

Great update! :)

Tank's relationship with his father is very complicated. He wants to get along with Buzz, but he still holds a grudge because he didn't get a job in the military. The most important thing to him though, is the well being of his son. Tank doesn't really know what Buzz is doing with Bunker over there, but since the discussion he had with Marina about what Ripp told her, he suspects something is up. Ripp apparently knows a bit more about the situation than Tank does, but we'll get to that a little later.

Stella's been a little paranoid since she has married Tank. She loves him and her family, but she fears that her past as a pollination technician in training is haunting her. I don't want to give much away so I won't say much else about it.

i just read this, and because im obsessive when i find something i like, i went back and read all the other parts!

i love your legacy. i love that you can find beauty in just about any sim. but i really love that you go off into other families. i like your writing style and everything! so i added you. you can ignore my actual journal. i rarely write if i do it usually offends everyone.

Aww, thank you! :)

It's funny how you mention how I am able to find beauty in any Sim. I suppose it's true, though it didn't really start out that way. T
Like Blair Mace, who eventually became my simself's husband! I made fun of him constantly in that first update, until I found out how sweet he could be. And Tank, who grew to be one of my favorite Maxis created Sims- never in a million years did I think that was possible. Guy, who I used to think was rather boring, is growing on me now. He's got 9 nice points and is definitely the father figure to both his children AND Frances.

As much as I love the legacy family, it is pretty hard to resist having some of my favorite Sims be a part of the story. Some (like Ripp and Lazlo) have been favorites of mine for the longest time, but now I've learned to appreciate many others. I still don't like that Buzz though, as you can probably tell. I just started adding them as main characters out of curiosity to see what their children would look like. And now I don't think I can ever go back to just writing about the Maces.

Oh, you know I HAD to use that line! ;)
Seriously, the couple begs to have some A Streetcar Named Desire references. ...And Frances can be Blanche DuBois.

I'm so glad that there's a ton of Bunker love! Out of all the sims I have, he is definitely the one I view as "my baby". I just want to make him happy all the time. Especially after I put him through all this crap in the story.

Is that a lullaby I hear?

I love abductions. I've seen them a million times and still love them.

I love your take on Frances, too.

Oh yes, there will definitely be a little Tank Grunt spawn in the future. He is the only sim besides the Curious brothers that I have ever had abducted. And the first time was autonomous! That just makes it even more awesome. The baby is actually already born, and I can't wait to show it off. Unfortunately, you guys have to wait a few more updates to actually see it.

That is actually the third time Tank was abducted just for the sake of that shot (didn't save afterward of course) and I still don't think it looks right. I love them too, but it happens so fast!

Thanks! My Frances definitely has a few screws loose, doesn't he? Oh, and Julia serving grilled cheese was a very hard one to shoot, because I kept having to use the moveobjects code on him because he kept running to the food. It was way too funny!

*snicker*

Well, that explains how he got so big and beautiful, always running to meals!

Actually, he didn't start doing that until I got Free Time and made him a part Grilled Cheese Sim. :P

Guy's the one who made him big and beautiful in the first place. At one point when they were in college, the refrigerator was empty for about two full semesters, and Guy took it upon himself to get pizza every time he got home from class. Because of how dedicated he was to not letting his man starve, I didn't know that it was empty until after Frances became fat.

Thanks! I just HAD to include that line. After all, you can't have a woman named Stella without an A Streetcar Named Desire referance!

Well, I hope you continue reading and enjoy the next chapter as well!
